Organizers of the 2021 Canada Summer Games will be visiting Thorold on the Tuesday following the long weekend.
The visit will see them asking the municipality for funding towards the event, a sum of $5 million. $25 million out of a $98 million total is required from local municipalities to successfully run the event. Niagara Regional Council previously committed to $13 million.
If the town of Thorold agrees, organizers are confident this will finalize the needed funding.
