Wedding Bells to Ring at Niagara Falls City Hall

Couples will now be able to tie the knot at Niagara Falls City Hall.

City Council passed a motion to allow civil marriage ceremonies at their meeting last night.

Several Niagara municipalities already offer the service; including St. Catharines, Welland, Fort Erie, Grimsby, Thorold and Pelham.

Their fees range between $200 and $300, making it a cheaper alternative to costly wedding ceremonies.

The Marriage Act changed about 15 years ago, giving municipal clerks the power to perform civil marriages.
