May is Maternal Mental Health Month, and it’s the 3rd Annual Flora’s Walk Fundraiser for Perinatal Mental Health! Led by the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative. Perinatal refers to the period of time from conception and up to a year after giving birth. Flora’s walk is named after Flora Babakhani, a Canadian mom who tragically lost her life due to undiagnosed postpartum psychosis. Flora’s Walk aims to improve perinatal mental health care and establish a National Perinatal Mental Health Strategy in Canada.

There are over 50+ walks happening across Canada. 75% of the funds raised will stay here in Niagara to fund a low/no cost program Maternal Health Niagara created called “Flora’s Gift” that will help those with limited or no benefits access timely care.

Tens of thousands of Canadians struggle with perinatal mental illness. When you support Flora’s Walk Niagara you are helping us provide families in our community access to the perinatal mental health care through “Flora’s Gift” at Maternal Health Niagara, you will also be helping to share a vision of healing, hope and honouring Flora.

In addition to our stroller friendly walk we will also be hosting a vendor marketplace with the majority focused on wellness, perinatal and family oriented businesses and supports, a penny raffle table and joining us as a food vendor, Fireside Drive Food Truck.
