One Book One Niagara encourages the community to read the same book and come together for a grand finale event. This year, Niagara libraries have selected the novel In the Upper Country by Kai Thomas. Thomas and his debut, award winning novel will be featured at the 2024 OBON event taking place on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Welland Centennial High School.

The event on April 23 will begin with drumming and singing from the Strong Water Singers and a Pouring Libations with Kerry Goring, followed by a conversation between Thomas and local author Patty Krawec. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions following the discussion. At the conclusion of the Q&A, Thomas will be signing books.
