If you smelled smoke in the air last night, you weren't alone
Environment Canada says a Special Air Quality Statement issued for parts of Southern Ontario including Niagara, will continue this morning.
The weather office explaining that smoke from forest fires in the northwest of the province has moved over Southern Ontario and with that comes the possibility of high levels of air pollution.
Meteorologists also warn that reduced visibility and deteriorating air quality are possible if the smoke descends to ground level.
Conditions are expected to improve later today when a cold front moves in..
Environment Canada warns "If you or those in your care are exposed to wildfire smoke, consider taking extra precautions to reduce your exposure. Wildfire smoke is a constantly-changing mixture of particles and gases which includes many chemicals that can be harmful to your health."
Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
The town of Grimsby tweeting out "During this time OPEN AIR FIRES ARE NOT PERMITTED."
