A signifcant milestone for the Niagara District Airport in a few years.... its 100th birthday.
The airport authority says it's official opening weekend was September 13th to the 15th, 1929, first established and operated by Haney Repair Service of St. Catharines.
It was moved three miles in 1935 to its current location.
Airport CEO Dan Pilon says today they celebrate everyone and every business that has shaped the airport, from Haney's Repair to St. Catharines Flying Club, and everyone in between.
He adds they're just as excited for the future, anticipating responsible growth.
