Long delays for truckers attempting to cross the Queenston Lewiston and Peace Bridges as border agents continue contract negotiations.
As of 4:00 p.m. today, trucks heading into Canada via the Peace Bridge are looking at a wait of over two hours.
It's about a 40 minute wait at the Queenston Lewiston Bridge.
This comes after about 9,000 Canada Border Services Agency workers started work to rule action this morning.
On Tuesday, the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Customs and Immigration Union, the unions representing border workers, served notice of strike action to the federal government.
All Canadian airports, land border crossings, postal facilities, headquarter locations and shipping ports can expect delays.
On Monday, fully vaccinated Americans will be allowed to cross the border into Canada.
Chris Aylward, National President of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, says it's unfortunate the strike action had to be taken.
"We truly hoped we wouldn’t be forced to take strike action, but we’ve exhausted every other avenue to reach a fair contract with the government. Treasury Board and CBSA have been clear they aren’t prepared to address critical workplace issues at CBSA at the bargaining table."
