They were called just before 5am, Saturday morning, to Eastchester Avenue, near Lorne, where they found paramedics tending to a 58-year old man who had suffered a critical injury.  It was determined he was the driver of a 2016 Toyota Corolla taxi, that was parked nearby.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, but then further flown to an out-of-region hospital for further care.  Police tell us even though the victim remains in critical condition, the homicide unit is called in due to the nature of the injuries, and has significant resources that can help a complex investigation.

Further investigation found a passerby had driven by the scene, saw the stopped taxi, and noticed the driver laying unconscious on the road.

Police brought in the K9 unit, but did not find a suspect.

If you know anything about this case, or have video footage of the area from 3am to 5am, call police.
