Ontario officially in third wave of pandemic
The director of Ontario’s science advisory table is calling for a three-week hard lockdown for areas in the Golden Horseshoe, to stem the growing tide of COVID-19 cases being driven by new variants of the virus.
Dr. Peter Juni tells CTV he believes, if current trends continue, we could see between 2,500 and 5,000 new cases a day in just a few weeks.
Juni ads if we go back to the lockdown we had a year ago, just one more time, and focus on areas of the province with high caseloads, then we can probably get things under control again.
Meantime yesterday, the province's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams confirming the third wave is here but adding it's just a matter of determining what kind of wave will it be,
His comments come as the province sees a rising tide of new infections, over 1,500 cases in each of the last two days.
