Police overwhelmed by too many concert goers
Canal days got a little more rowdy this past weekend when eager fans toppled the fences during the Billy Talent show Saturday.
An estimated 25-thousand people showed up at the park where the concert was taking place Saturday evening -- more than double the 10-thousand expected.
Niagara Regional Police say several thousand people pushed through the surrounding fences after the venue reached capacity, challenging officers and security guards.
Police say one officer had minor injuries, while city officials report 15 minor injuries among the concertgoers.
Organizers shut down alcohol services in the interest of public safety.
