Officials say they are close to renaming Centennial Gardens
The city tweeting out staff have reviewed hundreds of name submissions and there is overwhelming support to rename it Richard Pierpoint Park, in honour of the black loyalist.
But officials say some other variations have been suggested, including Pierpoint Park, Captain Pierpoint Park, and Richard Pierpoint Memorial Gardens.
The city would like additional feedback on those suggestions as well as on a proposal to name a pavilion or other park asset to honour our Indigenous community and to mark Canada's Centennial.
Residents are invited to go to the city's website to give feedback until Sept. 14th, at 4 p.m.
