City seeking donations for memorial to firefighters who have died on the job.
Funds are being raised to honour St. Catharines firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
For the past year and a half, the St. Catharines Fallen Firefighters Memorial Task Force has been raising money to enact a memorial statue.
Individuals or businesses can donate by buying an inscribed brick that will become part of the pathway.
Other items can be customized such as memorial benches, trees, flags and other features.
Donations can also be made without purchasing an element.
The memorial will be located in a City parkette bordered by Race, Carlisle and McGuire streets.
"Our team at St. Catharines Fire is humbled by the outpouring of support coming in," said St. Catharines Fire Chief Dave Upper. "we hope to have all of our supporters join us and the families of our fallen at our inaugural memorial ceremony later this year."
