The City has announced the purchase of three fully electric vehicles in order to reduce their carbon footprint.
These vehicles will replace the trucks being used by Municipal Works supervisors.
They say that the purchase of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EVs will result in an average fuel saving of $1927 per year, per vehicle.
The City also says that maintenance costs of the new vehicles is also lower, because these cars don't have the same kind of maintenance costs associated with traditional automobiles.
The purchase comes after the City declared a Climate Emergency last year.
As a result, they vowed to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by the year 2030.
