Connection to Regional Gov't Vital: McLeod

City website

The City of Welland is at a very critical time in its leadership and development, and that's why a city councillor feels he needs to be mayor.

David McLeod says the key is connection to the region, and after October, it'll only be the mayor.  "If you don't have someone who's been plugged in for the last 16 years to the challenges and figured out what it is we need in the community, at the region, then we're going to be behind."

He says regional response to Welland problems has been difficult, so better mayoral cooperation in needed.  "I'm certain that if we have major traffic congestion problems on regional roads, my guess is that we're not alone.  Niagara Falls likely has those challenges, and so does St. Catharines."

He'll be adjusting to more growth of the city.  "3rd major industrial park going in the City of Welland,  in order to provide more employment lands, which ultimately adds to our tax base, and helps reduce the tax base on our residential home owner."

He's got 29-years in corporate leadership management.  "If I thought there was somebody better for the job, I wouldn't have put my name in.  But, at this point, my honest believe is, the City of Welland needs David McLeod to step up with his abilities."

He says Welland will need a lot of resources from the region to succeed, and he's the one to do it.
