Niagara Falls City Council has hired an Oshawa company to construct the new Culture Hub and Farmers Market.
The construction contract for Garritano Bros. Ltd is worth more than $11-million.
Council has also approved an additional $1.2-million for the projects budget, which brings the total over $15-million.
Director of Recreation and Culture Kathy Moldenhauer says the money is needed and it will be put to good use.
"We really did our due diligence to be prepared for this project and to ensure that the project came in at the best price feasible."
Moldenhauer says it will be a very basic but well designed building and its definitely needed for our culture community.
Council has also approved a name for the new facility.
It will be known as the Niagara Falls Exchange once its built on the corner of Main Street and Ferry Street.
