The Niagara Region to begin work on the J.R. Stork bridge next week

Work expected to start next week on replacing the J.R. Stork bridge in St. Catharines, originally built in 1967.

The Niagara Region says it's to put in a modern bridge to address traffic flow and traffic demand in the area.

The region did an analysis in 2019, recommending replacement.

The work will be coordinated with the water and wastewater division, since it includes replacement of the existing watermain crossing under Richardson's Creek.

There will be road closures, that can be found on the region's website.
