A special air quality statement is in effect for the region.
Environment Canada says due to the hot and sunny conditions, the region could see high levels of air pollution today.
Moderate air quality levels are expected throughout the day, but the weather office warns there could be higher values this afternoon into the early evening.
Exposure to air pollution can be risky for children, seniors, and anyone with an underlying medical issue.
Symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches, or shortness of breath are possible.
