Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton vying to be named host cities.
Toronto will soon find out if it will be a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA is expected to release the final list of host cities for the international soccer tournament later this afternoon.
The tournament will run from June 8th to July 23rd, 2026.
If selected, Toronto would host matches at BMO Field, which has a current capacity of 30,000 spectators, though upgrades that will allow capacity of up to 45,000 are expected to be made in time for the event.
Vancouver and Edmonton are also vying for the chance to be a Canadian host city.
For the very first time, three countries will be co-hosting a World Cup event: Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Matches will be played in 16 different cities.
