Welland residential property owner to pay $120,000 fine, after complaints about 2 buildings
A hefty $120,000 fine laid against a Welland residential property owner, after complaints of fire code hazards.
Welland Fire and Emergency Services looked into 71 Young Street last July, after some complaints of the 3-storey building.
They found in some rooms no smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, unsafe building modifications and other life-safety concerns.
Over at 23 Welland Street, same owner, officers found inadequate fire separations, and a fire alarm system not maintained in working condition.
The fire department adds the owner had previously been charged in 2023 for not complying with orders at this property.
