France is pushing the Canadian government to re-open the border to French tourists.
While France has re-opened their borders to some travelers from Canada, the Canadian border remains closed to foreigners, with limited exceptions.
A representative for President Emmanuel Macron says the relationship between the two countries may suffer if Canada doesn't comply soon.
"The consequence of the border closure is that there are no more visits," Ambassador Kareen Rispal said. "There are no more ministers. There are no more parliamentarians. There are no visits by manufacturers. There are no visits by artists -- relationships need to be worked on every day, to nourish them."
Canadians who are fully vaccinated, or have proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test and have no symptoms, have been allowed to enter France.
Canada's border closure is set to expire on July 21st, but the government has extended the closure every month since March 2020.
Earlier this month, the government began allowing fully vaccinated Canadians to re-enter the country without quarantining for two weeks.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also vowed to relax border restrictions even more "in the coming weeks."
