NDP MPP Wayne Gates spoke to the Ford government today, asking for more support for Niagara area businesses.
During question period at the Ontario legislature today, he said "It has been two weeks since I told the premier that Niagara’s medical officer of health instituted an additional regulation to try to stop the spread of COVID-19. It has been two weeks since I told the premier that Niagara’s medical officer of health instituted an additional regulation to try to stop the spread of COVID-19 which has put restaurants and bars, the tourist sector, operators and the wineries in a very tough spot financially."
He says without additional support, restaurants, bars, tourist attractions and other small businesses risk closure.
He also reminded the Ford government that dining restrictions in the area only allow for people to eat with their immediate family members.
