Head of the Local Association of Public Health Agencies says the group is fighting for a vaccine certificate system.
A group representing public health agencies throughout the province says it's looking at regional approaches to COVID-19 vaccination policies if the province continues to resist the idea of a vaccine passport.
Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, head of the Local Association of Public Health Agencies, says the group has written to the province's chief medical officer, sending recommendations for a vaccine certificate system.
The group is pushing for a certificate system that would include limiting access to non-essential activities to those who are fully immunized, and providing standardized proof of vaccination as an increasing amount of businesses and institutions introduce mandatory vaccination policies.
The group also suggests vaccine passports for each public health unit, but Roumeliotis says several health units would have to agree to the measure in order to ensure consistency.
Premier Doug Ford has turned down the idea of a vaccine passport in Ontario, saying the notion would lead to a "split society."
