Third line added to Pelham Centre Distribution Station
Hydro One has announced a significant investment to improve power resiliency in Niagara.
The company is investing $1.3 million to add a third power line to the Pelham Centre Distribution Station.
Teri French, Executive Vice President of Operations and Customer Experience says investments like this are good for both local residents and the economy.
"Strengthening Hydro One's high voltage system across the province will allow us to be more competitive by attracting future businesses. When you think about the day by day, when it's really hot out, by adding that extra pole, it's bolstered the ability to support local residents, as well as the businesses across the community."
French also says people will start to notice higher quality power in their homes right away.
"For example, if a customer used to notice a flickering light or a low light within their home, now immediately they're going to see that stronger light as the electric system has more power."
French notes the line will not just improve power in Pelham, but throughout the surrounding area.
The project started a year ago, and included feedback from the community and local leaders.
