Impressive RIDE for St. Patrick's Day

Supplied by NRP

Police stopped over 300 vehicles

No doubt Niagara regional police pleased with the results of last night's RIDE program for St. Patrick's Day.

They set up check points in Thorold, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls, stopping over 300 vehicles, searching for impaired drivers by alcohol or drugs.

30 drivers were required to give breath samples, all were in the acceptable range and were free to go.

However, police did hand out 22 tickets for other traffic offences, including one driver for being on the road while suspended, and two others who didn't have valid insurance.

Impaired driving remains the leading criminal offence causing death in Canada.
