Jeff McCormick is new the Fire Chief of St. Catharines.
But he is no stranger to the job, he had been filling in as Acting Fire Chief since July 31, 2017.
McCormick first joined St. Catharines Fire Services as the Deputy Chief in 2017.
He spent 30 years with the Brantford Fire Department beforehand; as a firefighter, fire prevention officer, Deputy Chief and Fire Chief.
St. Catharines City Council officially appointed him to the position on Monday.
Mayor Walter Sendzik says there is no better man for the job.
"We’re definitely happy to have Chief McCormick on board, he knows the department and brings immense experience to the post."
