This is a newly-created position at the school board.
Niagara Catholic’s Chief Executive Officer Giancarlo Vetrone has appointed Kim Kinney as the board’s first Chief Education Officer (CEdO), effective June 29. Kinney was named to the new position, created by the provincial government as part of its school board reform laid out in Bill 101, following a special information-only board meeting Monday.
Kim Kinney joined Niagara Catholic in September 2020, as a family of schools’ superintendent of education and the superintendent of education responsible for the board’s Program and Innovation (curriculum) portfolio. She spent most of her career as a teacher, vice-principal, and principal at the Halton Catholic District School Board.
“I am pleased that Kim has accepted the position of Niagara Catholic’s Chief Education Officer,” said CEO Giancarlo Vetrone. “Kim is uniquely positioned for this role, having spent most of the past decade focused on curriculum. Her commitment to student success played a key role in making Niagara Catholic a provincial leader in literacy and numeracy, and I’m sure in her new role, Kim will continue to focus on advancing student achievement for all.”
