Disappointment at the Town of Lincoln after the Ontario government denied its request for emergency flood relief.
The Town was told this is due to sufficient local private insurance, and the government determined the town's request did not meet flood program criteria.
The government adds as it looked at other assistance programs nationwide, the availability of overland flood insurance was key.
Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton was disheartened, saying people are still experiencing difficulty, along with the fact the town relentlessly pushed for help.
She adds the program falls short of supporting people, and they will keep demanding change.
Town Chief Administrative Officer Michael Kirkopoulos says this raises important questions about whether the current program meets the needs of communities.
Since July 31st, the town has collected detailed information from home owners and how they were impacted, the government also visited Lincoln to assess.
The Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program is intended to help restore essential property to a safe and basic condition.
