Police seize 26 grams of suspected fentanyl
A teenager is facing drug charges after police received a complaint about underage drinking in Oakes Garden Theatre.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Niagara Parks Police received a call from a resident, who told them there was a group of teenage boys with open bottles of liquor in the area.
When police arrived, one of the teens fled on foot after being asked for identification.
Police say the 17 year old was arrested after a brief pursuit.
The suspect was searched, and officers seized 26 grams of suspected fentanyl.
The youth was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance under the CDSA
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Additional charges were also laid under the Cannabis Control Act and the Liquor Licence and Control Act of Ontario.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the teenager's name cannot be released.
