Police say they were checking on the welfare of someone, when they came across a stolen vehicle
A 33-year old man has been charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime and other offenses.
Niagara regional police say yesterday, at around 11am, they showed up in the House and Garrison Road area of Fort Erie to check on the welfare of someone.
As a result, police came across a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Hamilton on January 5th. Police found a number of stolen tools inside.
They found the suspect responsible, and not only arrested him for that, but he also had three outstanding arrest warrants for previous incidents.
Police say Franklin Lewis, of no fixed address, also faces break and enter, 8 counts of theft under $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order.
He has a bail hearing today in St. Catharines.
