Police do not suspect foul play
Tragedy this weekend off the shores of Sherkston Shores resort in Port Colborne.
Provincial police say they were called to the area yesterday over concerns of a possible drowning.
They found a man had gone swimming in Lake Erie, but then began to have trouble.
A by-stander tried to help, but the man disappeared below the water, and did not re-surface.
Police add the man was found unconscious underwater by a rescue helicopter, that had been taking part in a Toronto air show, and took him to hospital in critical condition.
The 50-year old from Milton was pronounced dead, and foul play is not suspected.
