Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates wants Premier Doug Ford to recall the Provincial Legislature.

As wildfires continue to rage on in the northern part of the province, Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates says it's crucial that the government returns to work now to address this serious issue. Members of Provincial Parliament aren't scheduled to return to Queen's Park until October 27, which is still 96 days from now.

Smoke from more than 140 wildfires has drastically impacted air quality not only in Canada but throughout much of the U.S. as well... and it certainly drew the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump, who has wondered aloud whether he should put tariffs on Canada for this as well. Only about 40 of the fires are said to be under control and contained.

According to Ontario Forest Fires, the largest wildfire in the northwestern region, known as Thunder Bay 36, remains out of control and spans more than 318,000 hectares.

The Ministry of Natural Resources’ says the Thunder Bay Ignace District has invoked an Implementation Order for areas near Dryden 36 for the purposes of public safety and fire suppression.
