Wayne Redekop knows people are wondering when Friendship Trail will be rebuilt
Fort Erie's Mayor is addressing concerns of when the Friendship Trail will be rebuilt, after it was damaged during a storm in October of 2019.
Wayne Redekop stressed the importance of doing it properly, considering the bill will reach $3-million.
"This report will give us an opportunity for some additional time to make sure the engineering will be bang on in terms of what we can do, and how we would have to reinforce whatever we're planning to do, if we're going to put that trail back down along the water," he says.
The mayor adds this also gives time to try and secure more government funding.
Councillor Joan Christensen expressed to council her optimism. "The way I hear the plan being described will give us the best chance to ensure that in the future, with any type of climate change, that part of our community will remain strong."
The Mayor added a temporary trail is in the works.
