Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch accused the government of inadequate funding
The provincial government was pressured today to answer why Niagara Health is eliminating 98 positions.
During question period Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch blamed Niagara Health's $26-million deficit on the Ford government. "The same thing is playing out in hospitals all across the province, as already understaffed hospitals struggle to deal with deficits created by this government's negligence."
The Health Minister's Parliamentary Assistant Anthony Leardi said they've increased funding by $1-billion each year for the last 3-years. "Earlier this year the Minister required all hospitals in the Province of Ontario to present a 3-year plan to make sure that all hospitals reach a balanced budget within the next 3-years. We believe that is responsible."
Niagara Health is offering those displaced workers other jobs.
