An historic decision for the Catholic board
Trustees have given the green light to fly the Pride Flag at high schools during Pride Week, which runs from June 1st to the 6th.
In a statement the board says "the historic decision is a visible sign of support for our 2SLGBTQ+ students, staff and their allies"
On June 1st, Niagara Catholic will also make a public statement to students and staff, particularly those who identify as 2SLGBTQ+, to ensure they know they belong within the school board.
Trustees will also hold public consultations with stakeholders about future Pride Week/Month recognitions later this year.
