Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire & Emergency Services has made a donation to help save lives in the Dominican Republic.
They donated a 1990 Spartan reserve pumper that was no longer considered effective in Niagara-on-the Lake, as it required $4,800 in repairs.
However, the City of Sosua was able to make repairs to meet local safety requirements.
This is the second time that Niagara-on-the-Lake has donated fire equipment to the City of Sosua.
In 2011, the City received a 1985 Ford fire truck.
In addition to the pumper, NOTL Fire & Emergency Services also donated used equipment deemed non-complaint with Canadian standards.
