Kevin Martineau has listened to enough people while cutting hair
A Niagara Falls barber has listened to enough people complain about politics he's decided to do something about it and run for Mayor.
Kevin Martineau says fixing roads, dealing with homelessness and addiction, and high taxes are just some of the reasons why.
But, a top reason is freedom of speech and religion. "I believe Niagara Falls needs leadership, accountability, transparency, and freedom, and good government. People are sick and tired of the current administration, they've been there for 16-years, 8-years."
He says many people encouraged him to run. "I'm more of an introvert type of guy, but I've done a lot of homework, such as budget, and I'm very well versed in law... as in municipal government, the structure of the municipal act."
He adds government accountability must be restored.
"The shelters on Main and Ferry, I'm from that area, so I see it everyday.... I clean the streets, I feed the homeless, I try to talk to them, they need help."
"With public servants, it feels like they're being ignored. Maybe I don't go to city council meetings, but I see them online, and there's a lot of things that need to be changed, and I feel the public is being ignored."
He says if people want change, they need to act and do something.
He's vying for the job against Jim Diodati, Lori Lococo, Michael Lucid, and Paul Manning.
