A stretch of Centre Street in Niagara Falls will reopen to traffic but only during the day.
Niagara Falls City Council has passed a motion to close the stretch between Ellen Ave and Victoria Ave only after 4:00 p.m. leading up to stage three of reopening.
The area has been closed 24/7 to allow for more patio space but it was not benefiting all businesses in the area.
The city will cover the cost of closing and reopening the area on a daily basis.
Meanwhile a stretch of Queen Street will also reopen to traffic.
Council has also passed a motion to reopen the stretch between Buckley Ave and St. Lawrence Ave but the keep the area between St. Lawrence Ave and Chrysler Ave closed.
This was recommended by the Downtown BIA as a compromise after 65 people signed a petition against the closure.
