UPDATE: Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati has tested negative for COVID-19.
Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati made the announcement on social media this afternoon.
He's encouraging members of the public to do their part, and practice social distancing.
Diodati was tested for coronavirus last week.
He started experiencing flu-like symptoms after a recent trip to Washington.
Mayor Jim Diodati is currently in self isolation.
Diodati returned from the U-S with flu-like symptoms and is currently being tested for COVID-19
Results are expected any time between now and March 16.
He has been taking antibiotics all week and first assumed it was strep throat based on symptoms.
It is believed that it is unlikely Diodati has corona virus, but but as a precaution they are running the test since he comes in contact with so many people so frequently.
