Ontario Health Coalition issues referendum on the province's plans to clear the surgical backlog by using private clinics
The Niagara Health Coalition is part of a group launching a province-wide referendum on the province's plans to use private clinics to help clear a surgical backlog.
The initiative is being led by the Ontario Health coalition, and over 40 coalitions are taking part in the community-wide vote.
At the end of May, voting stations will be set up outside community centres, Legions, grocery stores and coffee shops.
Over 60 voting stations will be open in Niagara on May 26th and 27th.
The group says the province is privatizing health care and could cause health systems to lose revenue and staff to for-profit clinics.
On May 31st, the the group will send the ballots to Queens Park.
