Oakes family makes $5 million donation towards new Niagara Health site.
The Niagara Health Foundation has received a sizable donation towards the new South Niagara Site.
A $5 million donation has been made by the Oakes family, who has a long history of supporting health care in Niagara.
In the early 50s, Lady Eunice and Sir Harry Oakes donated the land for the current Greater Niagara General Hospital.
In recognition of the gift, the main entrance of the site will be named after the family.
To date, over $27 million has been pledged in support of the new site.
