The Niagara Health Foundation has become accredited by Imagine Canada.
The organization gives accreditation to Canadian charities based on board governance, financial accountability and transparency, staff management, volunteer involvement and fundraising.
Over 30 healthcare foundations across Canada have been recognized by Imagine Canada, including the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Sick Kids Foundation.
In order for Niagara Health Foundation to receive the accreditation, the organization had to focus on 73 key areas, with the assistance of Imagine Canada coaches.
The process took nearly two years to complete.
Andrea Scott, Interim President & CEO of Niagara Health, says the distinction is good for the charity.
"It allowed us to do a full review of our operations, processes, and management. When donors and the community see the Foundation's logo next to the Imagine Canada Standards Program Trustmark logo, they can be assured that they are donating to an organization held to the highest standards."
