Sam Oosterhoff says it's gone up over 42% over the last few years
Provincial funding for Niagara Health has increased over 42% in over 5-years.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff's office putting out a release saying total base funding went from over $464-million in 2018-19 to over $717-million in 2024-25.
This money does not include the $3.6-billion to build the South Niagara hospital, or help to add more capacity to the Welland hospital, both of which Oosterhoff says will add another 600 beds across the region.
As for ambulance service in Niagara, the government says spending went from over $28-million to over $30-million.
It's also invested over $2-million for expanded primary care teams in Niagara, to connect almost 10,000 more people to a doctor.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones says this increase to Niagara Health's funding helps reduce wait times, support hospital staff, and get more families connected to health care in Niagara.
She also says the government is working with Ontario hospitals, including Niagara Health, to improve accountability and operational improvements.
The government says since 2018, it has added 3,500 new beds, is building over 50 hospitals projects, and adding 100,000 new nurses and 15,000 new doctors.
