Mosquitos in Lincoln test positive for West Nile Virus.
Niagara Region Public Health is letting residents know the region has received confirmation of West Nile Virus in local mosquitos.
All of the mosquitos that tested positive were found in Lincoln, and public health notes there aren't any human cases in Niagara.
Residents are advised to reduce their risks by wearing long sleeved shirts, long pants, socks and shoes when outside.
You're also urged to apply products containing DEET or Icaridin when using mosquito repellant, and make sure all the windows and doors at your home have screens in good condition.
Residents can also drain any areas of standing or stagnant water on their property, including old tires, bird baths, pails, toys and wheelbarrows.
