Niagara Region Public Health is making preparations for the start of the area's mass COVID-19 immunization clinics over the coming weeks.
The 11 clinic locations were announced last week, and Public Health is working with community partners to ensure readiness once vaccines are made available.
The clinics will be open and operate on a rotating basis.
They will also increase in frequency over the next few weeks in order to provide vaccinations as quickly as possible.
Selection criteria for the sites included free and ample parking, public transit accessibility and drive time for overall population.
Once vaccine supply is increased, the clinics will be supplemented by family doctors and local pharmacies in order to make it easier for residents to get vaccines closer to home.
Clinics for those 80 and older will begin in the next couple of weeks, and starting on Monday, appointments can be made through the province's online and phone registration systems.
