Premier Doug Ford and Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff have unveiled a giant Lake Ontario sign at Fifty Point Conservation area in Winona. The sign reads “Lake Ontario: Now and Always”. During the unveiling Ford said Canadians will “never, ever back down from a bully”, and that no matter what President Donald Trump calls the lake, it will always be Lake Ontario to the rest of the world. Trump signed an Executive Order last week renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America, after a war of words escalated between Ford and Trump when trade talks between Canada and the U.S. broke down.
