Welland bridge damaged after fire and explosion
Niagara Regional Police are looking for a 37 year old Welland man following a suspicious fire under the Division Street Bridge.
Emergency crews were called to the Welland bridge just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon after reports of a fire and explosion.
Upon arrival a fire was located under the bridge and quickly extinguished, the explosions were linked to propane cylinders.
Officers located a male victim in his 30's suffering from minor injuries and he was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital.
NRP are looking for Kyle James Armsworthy who is wanted for robbery and arson charges.
He's described as 6 feet 2 inches tall with blonde reddish hari, blue eyes and a tattoo on his upper back.
The bridge suffered some damage in the fire but was reopened to traffic just before 8 p.m.
A damage estimate as not yet been determined.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Armsworthy are asked to call police.
