Police were called to a domestic violence case, a few hours later there were serious injuries
A Niagara regional police officer has been seriously hurt after a domestic disturbance call in Fort Erie.
Police arrived at the scene in the Spears Road North area at around the noon hour on Saturday.
They found a criminal offence had taken place, at which time the NRPS Domestic Violence Unit took over.
At around 3:30, police say something happened between the suspect and the officer, leading to serious injuries to the officer, who was taken to an out of region hospital where he is in stable condition.
Police add the suspect was arrested, and taken to hospital in stable condition.
Due to the nature of the suspect's injuries, Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has been called, and as such, Niagara police cannot reveal any further details.
