Police posting to social media tips to avoid being taken
A warning from police to those who are dealing with flooded homes... by wary of criminals trying to take advantage of renovation work.
The NRP posting to social media some safety tips when it comes to hiring contractors.
They say to watch for fraudulent restoration services being offered in St. Catharines in response to the flooding.
Get recommendations from people you trust, make sure the contractor is insured before working, and be leery of services offered door to door, or over the phone.
Police add if you think you've been the victim of a scam, give them a call.
