Victim was in her 70's
A woman in her 70's is dead following a fatal hit and run in Chippawa Saturday night.
It happened shortly after 10 p.m. when a pedestrian crossing the intersection of Welland Street and Willoughby Drive and was struck by a pickup truck.
Initial investigation has revealed the truck fled the area without stopping to check on the victim.
Bystanders came to the aid of the victim before EMS arrived on scene to transport the victim to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives seized what they believe to be the suspect vehicle yesterday afternoon in Niagara Falls.
The identity of the deceased is not being released.
NRP are asking for anyone with cameras in the area to check their footage around the time leading up to the accident and after.
Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact police.
