Program to include free tuition for paramedic and lab tech students
The Ontario government is expanding the Learn and Stay grant.
The grant was initially announced for students who enrol in nursing programs.
Premier Doug Ford told reporters this morning that the program will also include paramedic and medical laboratory technology programs in priority communities.
The grant will provide free tuition and books to 2,500 students.
Once they graduate, they will be required to work for a period of time in the community where they studied.
Eligible programs include the following:
- Nursing programs in northern, eastern and southwestern Ontario
- Medical laboratory technologist/medical laboratory sciences programs in northern and southwestern Ontario
- Paramedic programs in northern Ontario
Grant applications for the upcoming school year will open in the spring.
